Happy Wednesday! Who else loves to make pretty things that have zero purpose except to bring them joy and hopefully bring someone else joy, too?! Because that's what the majority of this blog and my YouTube channel is (#yas). I was feeling a bit inspired and decided I wanted to curate another cutesie of a room (see my last two here and here). This quirky compilation I threw together features bohemian, eclectic, and a tinge of jungalow style using strictly vintage goodies. One of my favorite sites to browse for inspiration is chairish.com. They curate beautiful vintage items from vendors around the world and organize them in such a fantastic way. I can get lost scrolling through each page! Seriously, check it out. I will say that the majority of the items I find on Chairish are out of my budget, however, I believe that it's possible to gather inspo and search in your own backyard (aka city) for similar pieces. I understand that each of these pieces are valued and it's a joy for me to learn about so many different cultures and decades just perusing through their website. You should hop on the Chairish train. There's plenty of room!
As you might have noticed in past and present posts, I really love brass/gold + greenery. I'm on my own little journey of plant nurturing/keeping them alive but that blog post is for another day. I really loved pulling the blush, orange and pink tones together and adding eclectic accessories to this "story" (that's what we'll call these random room compilations, coo?). There's a bit of a jungle theme in this story as well, similar to my last one, and this is brought in from the greenery, the hand painted cheetah and the animal scene painting. Not sure why I'm so drawn to little cheetah sculptures but I am?!?! TBD.
Although Daniel and I have been in our apartment since February (#bless), there are soooo many unfinished spaces in our home. It's super frustrating at times because I just want everything to look cool and complete but I try to remind myself that it's okay not to be fully put together. Truth be told, we love spending our money on experiences! So I'm fine with this for now.
What's your favorite addition to a space? Mine would have to be adding a wink of "random" around the house. I have such a dorky personality (hint, I watch regular show weekly and can't get enough bob's burgers) and I love adding some comic relief to my home. There are two handmade pieces of art in my bathroom that state "Oui, Oui" and "ICUP". Get it? No? Oh dear.

Better late than never, that’s my motto. Back in August Daniel and I took a week long trip to Los Angeles with our friends Justin and Kate (plus their cutie pups!). My brother and sister in law live there along with a couple friends. We started each day off with a cup of joe at different coffee shops. We ate yummy food, ran into THREE celebs (watch here if you want to see the story and video from this happening #JONHAMM) and ate hot dogs on the beach. It was fun to pretend we were LA residents just cruising around and hitting local spots. The only touristy thing we did (besides drive my Zac Efron's house because of course you do that when your friend Brooke mysteriously has his address) was see the Griffith Observatory. I was so excited to do this! It was pretty much the only thing on my list that I wanted to do before we left. We popped into several vintage stores and I found a really great one with awesome prices (see below!). The weather was surprisingly hot while we were in town but the evenings felt glorious. It was such a fun time and we saw so many cool places. Here are some of the snapshots I took while we were there. Oh, and hover over each image to read about them!
Now if only I can get our Mexico travel diary up soon… baby steps
It has been a whirlwind of an August and now somehow September is halfway through?! Is this what growing up is like?! I've been doing it for a while so I suppose I should be accustomed to it but WOOF, I just need time to slow down so I can enjoy all the finer things in life. I feel so blessed to live the life that I do with the people that I love. I don’t want to take any of it for granted. These random little vlogs I enjoy putting together so much are really close to my heart. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, but it is my family soooooo, I understand if not. Haha! On this particular day, September 3rd, we enjoyed each others company and did things that make us happy. We had just got back from a week long vacation to Los Angeles and as much fun as we did have, we were so happy to be home! This day started early at church because I was scheduled on the worship team, followed by lunch with friends at a DANG delicious new taco spot in Deep Ellum. Then we went home, changed, snuggled Marble and left for the day. Follow us around to our favorite neighborhood beer cellar, my FAVORITE thrift store and then a mountain of chilli cheese fries while reminiscing on a year prior when we filmed this date night video. I hope you guys liked following us around and I hope we made you laugh!
How to Style a T-Shirt and Jeans Fall Fashion Lookbook 2017:
In this video I take a simple t-shirt and pair of jeans and transform them into two fun, fall outfits. I love taking basics that are comfortable and pushing the limit with really interesting vintage/thrift store finds or modern accessories. I think style is so personal so I can see this outfit going in several different directions! There are no “wrongs” in my opinion - if you feel beautiful, confident and love your look, that's all that matters. This fall lookbook is short but jam packed with fun pieces that I love being able to share with you. I am soooo excited for the fall and all things fall fashion. I loved these outfits because they are really easy to transition into the autumn styles! I hope you enjoy this video! I’ll be back soon with more fashion related videos!
I'm Alyssa, thanks for stopping by! A few things: I enjoy laughing, making youtube videos and thrift shopping. Currently listening to "Everything Now" by Arcade Fire. I like my coffee black and my preferred method of maxin' & relaxin' is with my husband and pup.
